Wanted: House and Building Quilts and Last Week’s Winners

Quilters' Show & Tell

WANTED: Your House and Building Quilts for this week’s Quilters’ Show & Tell. The theme can be represented in the quilt’s design or the fabrics used. Any quilting technique is welcome (paper pieced, appliqué, pieced, etc.). Any quilt size is acceptable and unfinished quilt tops are welcome as well. Please don’t submit a quilt you’ve already entered in the past… let’s see something different!

To enter: Submit your photo before Thursday, August 22nd, 2013 at 9:00 p.m. (EDT). If you are new here, please also read the Guidelines for additional information.

To sponsor a weekly Quilters’ Show and Tell event, please send me an email and I’ll send you the information package. Check available dates here. Sponsors are featured on the voting post published on Friday. Only a few dates left for 2013.

Thanks to everyone that entered and voted for last week’s Pet Quilts event. Here are the winners:

Guest Judge

Vicki from Field Trips in Fiber was our guest judge and she awarded her bonus points as follows:

30 points – Mr. Maybell – 30 + 116 = 146 points
25 points – Nick’s Quilt – 25 + 117 = 142 points
30 points – Under the Jellicle Moon – 30 + 76 = 106 points
15 points – Bertha Blub – 15 + 79 = 94 points


The top two winning quilts are: Mr. Maybell by Crystal Mills which received 146 community votes and guest judge points.

    I don’t see why you bother with the public votes if they are going to be over ridden with a judges decision…..waste of my time and others.

    Thanks for your feedback. Sadly, in years previous I had way too much voting fraud that went on, and this year with the guest judges, it’s helped even out the playing field for all involved. Most weeks it is the community votes that result in the winner(s). How the winners are chosen is clearly indicated in the Guidelines page and every single week it is reiterated.

    I really like the guest judges. It seems a little more fair, a great quilt doesn’t always have great social networks backing it. Thanks Michelle for all you do!
