Weekly Quilt Contest: Bags & Purses
The theme for this week’s quilt contest is Bags & Purses. Any quilting style is acceptable. Please only submit completed items.

It’s great to be back here at Quilting Gallery for another contest. I love looking at all of the wonderful things that are made by Quilting Gallery readers. There’s a lot of talent here!
I’ll be honest; I do not make a lot of purses simply because I carry only 1 black purse every day. But I do love a good tote bag. I recently designed an extra large tote to use for taking my quilts to my guild meetings. I call it the Show and Tell Tote but for you it might be the Soccer Practice Tote or the Holiday Gift Tote. You can get the free tutorial here.
I am not a tall person so I designed this one with 2 sets of handles. The short handles allow me to carry the tote with my arm extended and the tote will not drag the ground. I also have long handles so I can carry it as a shoulder bag. This sample was made with my Beach Walk gradient.
A shibori fabric will give you some great lines to highlight in the purse pieces.
A One Yard Cut of fabric is usually enough for a purse and you can find some great textures and color combinations to make your next purse special.
