I made this quilt to feature in teaching a class about disappearing-nine patch quilts. I used a panel and charm pack, and hand-quilted the center panel and colored blocks. My sister, the Pajama Quilter, machine-quilted the background.

I fell in love with the border fabric the moment I saw it. I picked out 12 FQ to go with it and used the pattern Crazy Eights by Bits ‘n Pieces. My new BIL saw the top & wanted to buy it – I refused. I quilted it with an all over ivy pattern and then gave it to him for his birthday.

I collected leaves from homes I’d lived in over the years and from schools I had attended. My son was going to school in Ghana and sent some leaves. I included leaves from my grandparents’ and parents’ homes. Such fun! I traced around these leaves onto felted wool and stitched with Perle cotton.

The sampler blocks were sewn as part of a monthly group at my local quilt shop. It was long-arm quilted by Judi Madsen of Green Fairy Quilts.
One lady in the sewing group told me that she was very skeptical of my color choices at the beginning, but loved how it turned out. We both laughed.

These fall leaves are made with batik fabrics and were machine appliqued. A variety of stitches were used for stems and veins. I machine quilted this quilt using loops and leaves with echo quilting on the leaves.
This table topper looks grand in my dining room.

I made this quilt for my husband to remind him of one of his favorite places in Vermont, an old sugar shack on the mountain where he could look down at all the beautiful fall foliage. The maple leaf stems were hand appliqued and all of the quilting was done by hand.

    These are so glorious. Some of the colors just spring out! These quilters have put a great deal of thought into their quilts.
