Birch woods Birch woods
By: Marian Walters,
Illinois, USA

This is one of my first attempts at a quilted postcard. But I am also learning to do art quilts, so I combined them into one. I fussy cut leaves from fabric, as well as cutting out designs for the birch trees. Then I used markers to highlight the fabric, and then stipple quilted all over.

This is an ATC that I made for the Quilting Gallery Swap. I try to use something to remember my Gram in every piece that I make. Gram had a huge collection of rick-rack & I have fun tucking a piece of it here & there. I had to include a yo-yo & hand embroidery since those are such fun for me.

I made these fabric/quilted postcards for an online swap group. The theme was “embellished owls”. I had just trimmed a bunch of batik fabric, and had these tiny snips of fabric laying around, and the owl fabric, when the idea of using the fabric snips as feathers came to me!!
