Weekly Quilt Contest: Patriotism

weekly quilt contest

Voting for this contest is here.

The theme for this week’s quilt contest is Patriotism. You can submit quilts, wall hangings, pillows, etc. as long as the item you enter is completely finished (i.e. bound and quilted). This contest is not just for Americans and Canadians; I’d love to see patriotic quilts from other countries too.

Our sponsor this week is Vicki Welsh who creates gorgeous hand dyed fabrics. She has donated a Stash Pack of hand dyed fabrics containing 10 fat eighths and a 10 yard pack of Mistyfuse for this week’s winner.

Hi Everyone!

I’m so happy to be back at Quilting Gallery for a great new weekly contest and especially for my favorite time of year… the week of the US Independence Day celebration. It’s all patriotic red, white and blue around here even with my current featured fabric palette.

There are mottled solids, a mandala panel and 2 prints in my newest collection.

I even got my act together and made a quilt from the palette already. OK, I admit, it’s not quite a quilt yet but it is a top and I have kits available for it as well. When completed this one is going to my favorite service organization, Quilts of Valor.

The featured fabric palette is on sale for $15/yard, over 30% off. As with all of my featured fabric palettes, it’s the colors that are on sale. You can get your fabrics in any combination or patterning of the colors. Check them out here and all of my other fabrics in my shop.

I also want to tell you about a favorite product of mine that you may not be familiar with. Most of is are familiar with Mistyfuse but did you know that there is a UV version? In accelerated aging studies, exposure to UV rays have been shown to cause fusibles to tan (darken). Especially on light colors, sheers or other light weight fabrics, and surface use, tanning may read as a color shift or dark spots. Mistyfuse Ultraviolet is specially formulated with an effective retardant to protect against the tanning effect of UV rays – without sacrificing any of the inherent Mistyfuse qualities you expect and trust. Mistyfuse Ultraviolet is white and fuses clear.

In my opinion the Mistyfuse products are the best fusible web products available. The are great for fusible appliqué because the fusible is so light weight that you can fuse many layers and the resulting fabric will not be stiff as it would with must fusible products. I often use it to baste quilts and appliqué blocks and you can’t tell that there is anything between the fabric and batting. Mistyfuse Ultraviolet ensures that you can add it to your quilt without worrying about the effects of the glue aging on your fabrics and that’s why I’m including some with this week’s prize package.

You can find me in all these places on the web:

Let’s get to the prize!

I will give away a hand dyed fabric Stash Pack from my shop and a 10-yard package of Mistyfuse Ultraviolet from Mistyfuse. The winner will get to select the Stash Pack of their choice. The total value of the prize is $60.
