I made this quilt for my Mom in 2000 when she turned 75. There are 4 girls in our family. Top row consists of the high school photographs printed on cotton. I mailed squares of white cotton with micron pens to my sisters and their families for the signature blocks. Blocks are “square in a square”.

When my mom decided she wanted a picture quilt for a family reunion, she learned how to scan, re-size and print photos on fabric. She gave them along with fabric to me. My husband cut the fabric, the kids helped with fabric selection and placement. I just stitched it all together.

For my Mom’s birthday (88yrs) I made a very light weight and floral quilt for her bed. This was the Chloe quilt from Bernatex, and it is embroidered as well as quilted in the hoop. It was the perfect color for my fair complexion Mom. She is now almost 90 and the weight of the quilt is perfect.

My sister and I quilt “together” 800 miles apart. This quilt was planned for Mom – we plotted, shopped & prepped, then during a visit we stayed up nearly all night and assembled, surprising her in the morning. By visit end it was all done. Mom had cancer but she kept this with her to the very end

In 2006 my husband’s grandmother died. In tribute I made 7 of these quilts, 1 for each of her children and 1 for me to keep. The pictures are her and her husband in 1946, her and her 6 children, everyone at the memorial service and a poem written by her son-in-law. She is greatly missed!
