I made this quilt for my Mom in 2000 when she turned 75. There are 4 girls in our family. Top row consists of the high school photographs printed on cotton. I mailed squares of white cotton with micron pens to my sisters and their families for the signature blocks. Blocks are “square in a square”.

When my mom decided she wanted a picture quilt for a family reunion, she learned how to scan, re-size and print photos on fabric. She gave them along with fabric to me. My husband cut the fabric, the kids helped with fabric selection and placement. I just stitched it all together.

For my Mom’s birthday (88yrs) I made a very light weight and floral quilt for her bed. This was the Chloe quilt from Bernatex, and it is embroidered as well as quilted in the hoop. It was the perfect color for my fair complexion Mom. She is now almost 90 and the weight of the quilt is perfect.

My Mom asked me to make this quilt for her. It is taken from a picture of the view she has from her cottage on the coast of Maine. My Mom has a rare blood disease and wanted this picture to remind her of the peaceful feeling she gets when she is there.

But, out of everyone it has been the most difficult for my Mother-In-Law. I made her this memory quilt, in hopes to help her with the grieving process and cheer her up

The blocks were gifts from online friends for my birthday a few years back. I asked for blue and white like Delft china. I decided to give it to my Mother-In-Law (who was born in Holland) for 90th birthday. I designed the setting and machine quilted it on a friends longarm.

this quilt consists of alternating 9-patches of various pinks and applique hearts. I made this in honor of my mom and best friend who faught breast cancer. It was sold in 2009 and proceeds donated to Relay for Life in hopes of find a cure so no other woman has to suffer this disease.

The black & white photo was printed on fabric, then hand colored and scraps from her fave garments added. She has been gone for 20 years but never forgotten, especially as we approach Mother’s Day.

Mrs.Star symbolizes being myself even when that is different than those around me. She is my Mother’s Day present to myself. The black fabric has tiny white dots, and all other fabrics are Annie’s Farm Stand. She was sewn by me and then quilted by me on my vintage 1896 Singer 31-15 machine.

The pansy is mom’s favourite flower. This pattern of Cynthia England’s paper piecing moves with mom and adorns her entryway still. It is at her place on Vancouver Island, so i am guessing at its size. it was made in the 1990’s.

My sister and I quilt “together” 800 miles apart. This quilt was planned for Mom – we plotted, shopped & prepped, then during a visit we stayed up nearly all night and assembled, surprising her in the morning. By visit end it was all done. Mom had cancer but she kept this with her to the very end

This was a combination of a snowball block and storm at sea block, I made the SAS blocks using my triangle in a square GO! die, and used a batik bundle I bought, one yd of each fabric, plus backing. I quilt feathers and curves all over the quilt and just sent this to my mom in Denmark -birthday

I made this little pillow using half square triangles from a few charms and scraps. I adore red and white fabrics and especially love the little hint of green at the corners in this pillow. It is a lovely little pillow for anywhere in the house and would suit a little girl, sister, grandma or mom.

It reminds me of the many Mondays I spent with her drinking tea and talking about everything going on in our lives. It is machine appliqued and hand quilted. The faces are hand painted.

In 2006 my husband’s grandmother died. In tribute I made 7 of these quilts, 1 for each of her children and 1 for me to keep. The pictures are her and her husband in 1946, her and her 6 children, everyone at the memorial service and a poem written by her son-in-law. She is greatly missed!
