Quilting Gallery Blog

Happy Birthday, Quilting Gallery!

It’s the Quilting Gallery’s 4th birthday and to celebrate we’re having a HUGE party, with give-aways from quilters around the world!!

Blog Hop Party

Normally, for my anniversary post, I’ll spend some time reflecting on the past year and sharing what the next year will bring. However, I haven’t had time to get this written yet. Look for this post next week.

If you’re new to the Quilting Gallery, Welcome! Here you can meet thousands of quilters from around the world in the quilting bloggers directory. Browse the quilt shop locator, a unique map-based directory of quilting retailers and professionals. Find connections in our world-wide directory of quilt guilds and search for the latest in quilting books, patterns and notions in the quilter’s market.

You’ll also find hundreds of free quilting projects, inspiring guest bloggers and charity quilting projects.

I host a weekly themed quilt contest. Vote this weekend for your favourite Christmas Table Runners or submit a photo for next week’s Christmas contest.

We just finished up the Celebrate Christmas Quilt-Along featuring 36 fabulous designers. I host swaps too; our next one will be in January.

I have prizes to give-away from a few wonderful sponsors. There will be 13 winners selected!

Aurifil Threads

If you’re new here, you might not know that I’m a HUGE Aurifil Threads fan. I use the 50wt cotton for all of my piecing and hand appliqué work. I’ll use 50wt or 40wt for quilting and have recently fallen in love with their 12wt for machine blanket stitch appliqué.

Alex from Aurifil has donated two thread collections for the give-away. Send Aurifil some love by Liking them on Facebook. They host super fun contests and give-aways there.

Collection 1: Wild Rose by Marti Michell contains 10 small spools of 50wt thread (220 yards each).

Collection 2: Freshly Baked by Kaye England contains 10 small spools of 50wt thread (220 yards each).

Saral Wax-Free Transfer Paper

Another product I adore is Saral’s Wax-Free Transfer Paper. I use it for marking quilting and appliqué placement lines. I did a product review earlier this year. The good folks at Saral have donated 5 sampler packs.

Montana Star Quilts

Quilting friend and author Linda Parker has donated a copy of her book Montana Star Quilts. It features over 90 brilliant full-page, color photos of Indian and author-made star quilts. It also includes complete step-by-step directions for eleven original star quilts with tips to design your own.

Montana Star Quilts

Quilter’s Cookbook

I’ll also be donating 5 sets of the two Quilter’s Cookbooks.

Santa alert: Just $4/each! Filled with fabulous recipes, heart-warming stories and gorgeous quilts, they’d make a great gift for you and your quilting friends. Purchase them here!

Definitely Silent Night is my favorite Christmas song — a classic with a powerful, yet calming message.

  2. Kim says:

I love Michael Buble singing That Christmas Song – although we have warm Christmases, you can dream of a white Christmas when listening to him sing.

  3. poppyinpink says:

    Handel’s Messiah, thank-you!

  4. Donna Joy says:

I would love to try aurifil 12 wt for blanket stitch. I am so inspired by all these bloggers. Thanks so much for the giveaway.
My Xmas song is Christmas Time Is Here by Diana Krall

  5. lisa m says:

Sleigh Ride, by Leroy Anderson, preferably an orchestral version.

  6. Feliz Navidad sung by my 7 year old son….it just makes my heart sing.

  7. Michele says:

My favorite Christmas song is White Chrismas sung by Bing Crosby…a true tradition.

  8. The favored song at our house is Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer but with a twist. When our niece and nephew were very little my husband would tease them that the song was all wrong. It really was Rudolph the Red-Nosed Giraffe. So that’s the running joke when we see them.

  9. Gretchen says:

Carol of the Bells is my favorite- followed closely by O Holy Night.

  10. Sue says:

Being born in England and having White Christmas’ until 1964 and then living in Australia, and having hot Christmas’. We visited our son in the US 2008 and hoping that we would have a White Christmas so my husband could experience one, I would have to say my favourite song is Dreaming of a White Christmas by Bing Grosby.

  11. Michele… You have an awesome array of prizes!

My favorite Christmas song is Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer! I made both of my grandbabies a quilt using a reindeer center panel and I quilted the words to the song in the inner border. Cant wait to give them to my babies. :)

Here is the video via you tube!

  12. Nataly says:

BLUE CHRISTMAS is my favorite Christmas song

  15. Joanne Hanson says:

My favorite Chritmas song is “I’ll be Home for Christmas” by The Carpenters.

  16. Michele says:

I think definitely Faith Hill, Where are you Christmas. That has to be my favourite song.

  17. Bente says:

I think this song is very christmaslike
Michael Bublé “All I want for christmas”

  20. Peggy says:

Hmmm….tough question~ I love all the Christmas songs the first few times I hear them during the season, but when I hear the same songs over and over I really get tired of hearing them. I really like White Christmas, I’ll Be Home For Christmas (for all of those who can’t be home) and Away in the Manger.

  21. Peggy Gibbs says:

I love to hear Oh Little Town of Bethlehem.
Thanks for a chance to win.
