What is your quilting style?

I don’t really have a quilting style. I like everything, and I’ll try anything at least once! Here’s one of the ranch quilts I’ve made for My Cowboy…

My Cowboy

How did you get started quilting and/or designing?

My grandmother enrolled me in sewing in 4H when I was 8 years old. I discovered quilting shortly after that, and have never looked back. I started seriously designing in 1999.

Do you have a favourite quilt?

That’s a tough question. I don’t really have a favorite. I love all my quilts. I love all quilts period. The ones I make are each one special… like children, I can’t call one my favorite over another! But I’ll show you this wall hanging that I made back in 2007. It’s all hand appliquéd – I have a fetish for working with little tiny pieces. I have lots of other fetishes, too, but I won’t go into that here…

Quick and fun questions:

  • Favourite colour: Red
  • What part of the quilting process do you like the most? All of it.
  • What part of the quilting process do you dislike the most? None of it.
  • Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, or: Plain vanilla
  • Most exciting place you’ve travelled: Even though I’ve done some overseas travelling, I still think my favorite trip ever was when My Cowboy and I rode our horses in NE, SD, ND, and MT in so many different scenic places. It’s an experience of a lifetime and one I won’t forget.
  • Favourite quote or mantra: My everyday mantra is one I can’t repeat in polite company, (what can I say, I’m a country girl!) so instead I’ll leave you with my second favorite: "It seemed like a good idea at the time . . ."
