Athenas Puzzle Athenas Puzzle
By: Jean Romack, Wisconsin, USA

This quilt was purchased as a kit and thankfully, all the strips were precut into 2.5″ strips. It took over 1 month to make this quilt, and that was working on it as often as I could. My daughter went quilt shop hopping with me one day and just had to have this one. It is gorgeous and she loves it

This quilt was made from a Jelly Roll I picked up at the Buckeyes Quilters Retreat organized by Barb Sills of Your Sew Special in 2009 at the Amish Door in Wilmot, Ohio. I love the colors Scarlet and Gray and this quilt sure uses both those colors in addtion to Black. Let’s go Ohio State Buckeyes!

My beloved Central Park Jelly Roll, Kona Cotton (Snow, Bahama Blue, Cerise, Plum, Petal) and a simple modern pattern. Added some free motion motifs. I hope it keeps me warm in winter (used thick cotton batting). See my blog for a Double Wedding Ring Pillow from the remaining strips.

My mom broke her leg and she lives too far away for me to visit so I made her this quilt as a way for me to sew some hugs that could be sent in the mail. The pattern is “Bali Sea Star” from “Scrap Basket Surprises” by Kim Brackett. The fabric is “Summers End” by Kansas Troubles Quilters for Moda.

Feeling Fall-ish Feeling Fall-ish
By: Ainsley, Northwest Territories, Canada

A wedding gift for a cousin. I had bought the jelly roll 2 years earlier with no plans in mind – just something I couldn’t leave in the quilt shop. The colors suited my cousin perfectly, and we were all delighted with how it turned out.

Happy Hibiscus - For Kelly Happy Hibiscus – For Kelly
By: Lizze, Missouri, USA

My Aunt was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer last Spring. She lived in Hawaii for the past 15 years & had a sunny smile. I found this Serrendipity jelly roll, a Hibiscus Batik, backed it in Minkee & made this Strip Search quilt. She told me she took it everywhere. Sadly, she passed away last week.

Jelly Roll Quilt Along Jelly Roll Quilt Along
By: Mary Schuberg, California, USA

This was a quilt done as a quilt-along from Moose on the Porch. The jelly roll was a gift from a dear friend so wrapping up in this quilt always reminds me of the friendship and good times we have shared. The backing is flannel so it is a toasty quilt on cool nights.

Kevin, Molly and Max Kevin, Molly and Max
By: Nancy McElwee, Pennsylvania, USA

I made this quilt as a wedding gift for my nephew and his wife. Each of the blocks represents something in their life. A heart for each of them and their little boy, one for their dog, a bluebird for their wedding theme, three houses representing their homes before marriage and their new home.

Mosaic Mosaic
By: CathyW, United Kingdom

I cut all the marbled samples into 2.5″ squares to enhance the mosaic effect, and I think the black background really enhances the colours. Then I had to go back out the shops to buy more marble for a border! A quilt I cannot give away…

By: Rhonda, Tennessee, USA

There was a race day on 1Choice4Quilting blog in the beginning of summer and since I had never done the Jelly Roll Race I thought it would be fun. I had to cut my own Jelly Roll since I didn’t have any on hand. The quilt reminds me of Spring so I named Spring Races

I love Punkin, love the colours.

  2. Ken Black says:

The jelly roll quilt is beautiful as was the quilt you completed for my Grandson, Baby Ben.

  3. Julie Fukuda says:

To me, Jelly roll suggests pre-cut fabrics made for machine piecers… sewing lots of strips together by machine and sometimes re-cutting and sewing again.
These are not common in Japan but since I am a hand piecer, I might have missed seeing them.

  4. judith says:

    Thank you kelly.
