Weekly Quilt Contest: Jelly Roll Quilts

weekly quilt contest

The theme for this week’s quilt contest is Jelly Roll Quilts. While I believe the term “jelly roll” is specific to Moda fabrics, any quilt made from 2.5″ strips is fine for this contest. The contest is not limited to just 2.5″ strips either, and you may have cut the strips up into smaller pieces to make your quilt. If you are unsure if you quilt fits the theme, contact me.

Our dear friends at the Fat Quarter Shop are back as this week’s sponsor. They have donated two jelly rolls of the winners’ choice for the two quilters with the most votes over the weekend.

Fat Quarter Shop

We are so thrilled to talk about our new It’s Sew Emma patterns, found exclusively at the Fat Quarter Shop! Our pattern company has been in the works for a long time. We have been writing exclusive block-of-the-month patterns for the Fat Quarter Shop for years, and receive so much feedback about how well they are written and illustrated, it was a natural progression to start publishing our own original designs. We are so excited to finally share our first batch of quilt patterns with the world!

Of course, our namesake is the sweet little daughter of Kimberly Jolly, who designs oftentimes with her children in mind. Along with our in-house talent, we will also be collaborating with a handful of other talented designers. Our designs range from traditional to contemporary, from charming basic blocks to wonky and whimsical. But they are all fabulous designs we’re proud to put our name on and have in our homes. And, of course, they’re all 100% Emma-approved.

We know everyone loves Jelly Rolls! This week you have a chance to win your favorite jelly roll from the Fat Quarter Shop!

Enter the Contest

Get your cameras out! To enter the weekly contest, read the rules and guidelines, then submit your quilt photo by Thursday evening (EDT). Voting will start on Friday and last until Sunday night.

Effectively immediately: a change to the voting rules for the weekly contests. While I have always encouraged those that enter the contests to invite their friends and family to vote for them, it is not appropriate to post about the contest on web forums not related to quilting and invite those users to vote for your quilt. For example, sites related to cars, motorcycle clubs, guns/weaponry, etc. are not appropriate sites. In the future, I will be disqualifying any quilters from the contest that post about their quilts on these types of sites.

As always, email me if you have any questions or require clarification. This new rule has been added to our official Rules and Guidelines for the weekly contests.

Last Week’s Quilt Contest

Thanks to everyone who entered last week’s Embroidery/Stitchery quilts contest. What an amazing display of gorgeous quilts. Thanks also to everyone that took the time to vote.

Our sponsor, Patchwork Gracie Fabrics donated two $25 gift certificates for the winners with the most votes. However, since the second and third place quilters both won last week, the prize goes to the first and fourth place winners. Here they are:

First place: Thearica Burroughs

Second place: Lily

Third place: Rhianon Taylor

Fourth place: Lisa Sipes
