Flip flops on the beach Flip flops on the beach
By: Stephanie, Maryland, USA

Can you see the flip flops resting on the beach towel on the sand? Completely hand quilted in honor of my mom and her three siblings for their family beach house. Well loved by all!

Happy Hour Margaritas Happy Hour Margaritas
By: Mjnauert, Texas, USA

At the quilt shop a few weeks ago, a small gathering of ladies were laughing at an ”ugly” fabric saying that nothing could be done with it and that it would be there forever. I took this as a personal challenge to buy that fabric as sashing. I added citrus and bright margarita-inspired colors.

June Bugs June Bugs
By: Linda Gilli, California, USA

This was a fun little quilt to make. The little button embellishments made the perfect little caterpillar and bodies for the butterfly and dragonfly.

Molly's Quilt Molly’s Quilt
By: Angie, North Carolina, USA

This quilt is for my friends’ daughter, Molly, who turned a year old this spring. It is intended to be a playmat for outdoor fun, like picnics and playgrounds. I used bright, summery fabrics that are playful and colorful. It was finished while on vacation at the beach. :)

Patriotic Summer Picnic Quilt Patriotic Summer Picnic Quilt
By: Kim Hanson, Alberta, Canada

A very simple premise – large blocks symbolizing patriotism and embroidered designs mesh well in my version of a simple, summer picnic quilt. Such fun to sew, quilt and embroider – this quilt was featured in Quilting & Embroidery magazine, Spring, 2011. Red, white & blue all the way!

Patriotic Zig Zag Quilt Patriotic Zig Zag Quilt
By: Jan, California, USA

Red, White and Blue, just for you. This is a fun Zig Zag quilt made from a variety of 100% cotton red, white and blue print fabrics. It’s definitely one of a kind. This is one of the first quilts I made when I started quilting, two years ago.

Pink Delight Pink Delight
By: Linda Brown, Ontario, Canada

This quilt started with a Beatrice Potter fabric panel for a ABC book. I wanted to think outside the box and this is what I have come up with, lots of lace eyelet and trim.

Red Beach, Santorini Red Beach, Santorini
By: Marlene @ KISSed Quilts, Washington, USA

In 1997 I spent a few days in Santorini, Greece. When I saw the challenge fabric, seen as umbreallas or beach balls in this quilt, last year for a local store’s shop hop participation, I knew it had make a scene from Red Beach….there were always lots of umbrellas, you could hardly see the sand.

Rows of Flowers Rows of Flowers
By: Amber T, Maryland, USA

I fell in love with the Moda Woodland Bloom jelly roll and knew that I had to have it! I used the strips uncut so that I didn’t lose the large beautiful flowers. It has a light batting, so it’s perfect for the summer.

Summer Blues Summer Blues
By: Lindy, Washington, USA

I made a series of landscapes featuring a mountain lake in all four seasons. I challenged myself to depict each season in a single colorway. I had to break that ‘rule’ when I wanted to add sunshine and sailboat, but felt the ’emotion’ of each season was portrayed nicely in this personal challenge!

Using firefox 3 I see all the large photos of the quilts underneath all the normal small photos of the quilts. So I can’t read any of the descriptions or names of the quilts well at all. I don’t always come and vote, and haven’t for a while, but this is what I am seeing today.

Just want to say thank you to everyone who supported ‘Red Beach, Santorini’. I was away this weekend so wasn’t able to personally get the vote out (so to speak), and am honored to have come in 2nd. Thank you Thank you for your kind comments above too.
