Blog Hopping: Quilt Album – Give-Away Edition

Hi everyone!

Welcome to my stop on the Quilt Album Blog Hop organized by the fabulous Pat Sloan.

If you’re new here, I hope you’ll have a look around the Quilting Gallery site and check out the various things I have going on including the quilting bloggers directory, where you’ll find more than 5,000 quilting friends. I run weekly contests, organize swaps, host guest bloggers and give-aways of fabulous quilting products. Stay in touch, by subscribing to my newsletter

Blog Hopping Fun

Pat’s asked us blog hopping friends some questions; here are my answers.

What one item do you really want to add to your studio and why.

One day, I want a long arm, so I can be a grown up quilter just like Pat… haha. The Millennium is on my wish list.

What color would you paint your living room if you had to do it right now?

My living room, sewing room and office share an L-shaped space. I live in an apartment, so changing paint colours isn’t really allowed. I did have this place painted when I first moved in and I still say they did not use the colour I had chosen. Note to self, if I ever pay to have painting done again, insist they sign MY paint chip as well as the one I give to them. I had wanted a warm yellow, but ended up with a very pale yellow, just slightly better than builder’s beige. This is the colour I want.. a little bit of sunshine everyday, but not too bright to require sunglasses:

Share a little known fact about yourself.

In February/March of 2008, I escaped the winter of Ottawa and spent six weeks in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Towards the end of my stay, I took a side-trip to Iguazu Falls – an absolutely breath-taking place to visit. If you ever get the chance, do it, you won’t be disappointed.

I even took the boat tour, which makes the Maid of the Mist in Niagara Falls seem like a child’s toy ride.

What is the last piece of fabric you bought

Well, the last fabric I purchased would be some solid white, but a photo of that would be rather boring. I did buy a huge stash of hand dyed fabric last year:

hand-dyed fabrics

Your favorite candy to find in your Easter Basket

My most favourite Easter candy would be Cadbury’s mini eggs. There’s even a Facebook page for them. Lucky for me, I have a package sitting here that I discovered in my purse last night. Munch, munch, munch!

Quilt Album

Enough about me, let’s take a look at reason you’re all here, to learn more about the Quilt Album software.

What is it? QuiltAlbum is an easy way to document your quilts – to store photos of and record detailed information about your quilts. You can easily drag and drop in a photo of your quilt and fill in the relevant details. A notes field is included for you to add any information that you wish.

For each quilt, you can print out an Album page:

… Notecards:

… and even custom labels. How cute are these with my Springtime Chubby Chicks quilt that I made last year?

The software works on both Windows- and Mac-based computers. There’s a very detailed video tutorial available on the Quilt Album web site, and they have a newsletter that you can subscribe to and get useful tips and updates.

Enter the Give-Away

I have one copy of the software to give-away to a lucky reader on my blog. Leave a comment below telling me of a place you’d like to travel to and why.

Last year, I visited Honolulu for a week–AWESOME! When I tell folks about my Hawaiaan vacation, they all say that I haven’t been to Hawaii, if I haven’t been to Maui. So, I guess I have to go check out Maui.

The list of where I’d like to go is endless, but since I was a child and saw South Pacific, I have wanted to visit Bora Bora – and stay in one of those thatched huts over the water!

Quilt Album looks like something I would use all the time! I have numerous print albums – still all blank…. :(

I want to go back to Ireland. We went as band parents 7 years ago with 100 high school kids and parents. It was great fun, but I tell you the kids were better behaved than the parents! I want to go back with just my husband and have a time of exploring and getting to know the people.

  144. Kathleen Connors says:

I’d love to go to England-and Ireland, while I’m there. So many novels are set in England, and I have my own pictures in my head so I’d like to see the real thing. And I’m Irish, so I must go there!
I’ll be back to see your quilt gallery and projects; I like the way your blog is set up. Thanks very much.

I’d love to go to Congo (ex-Zaire). I’ve got lots of friends and acquaintances that have been there and found it fascinating. The problem is, it’s not the safest place to visit at this moment, so I think I would substitute Machu Picchu.

  147. Kate says:

My list of places to travel is pretty long. Near the top of the wish list would be Paris (to try to put my French classes to some use).

  148. MaryBeth says:

My son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter just left today for Germany for a 3 year stint (he’s in the Army). Sooooo, I’d LOVE to visit them (and I’m sure I will at some point). But in the meantime, I’d settle for winning a copy of this software, LOL.

  149. Jo vdmey says:

I absolutely loved going to the Pacific cost side of Costa Rica. So far this has been the one place I really would like to go back to. The people were great and the eco tourism scenery was unforgetable.
The software would definitely help me to keep track of what I have done. A neat history of what I spend my time doing.
