30th weddinganniversery (for my parents) 30th weddinganniversery (for my parents)
By: Sabine Segers- van Esch, Netherlands

I made (most of) this quilt during a a quilting weekend with friends. It was a surprise for my parents who were married for 30 years. The original pattern came from a book of Wendy Vosters, but I adapted it a bit to fit in a weddingpicture, which shows they wore typical clothes for that time (1977)

Che razza di donne siamo Che razza di donne siamo
By: donataquilts, Switzerland

I made this quilt to honor Women’s Day.

There are many races, but we all belong to the “human” race, and our differences in appearance are meaningless.
Our brains, our hearts, our feelings are absolutely similar to each other.

Applique’ quilt with beads and dimensional details.

Diamonds Are Girl's Best Friend Diamonds Are Girl’s Best Friend
By: Barbie K, Colorado, USA

This may be a stretch, but my faces are in the fabric, using Bethany Renolds’ Stack ‘n Whack method to create the Kaleidoscopes. I loved this Beth Bruske Moulin Rouge fabric from David Textiles. Our Guild’shallenge was to deign a quilt around a song-“Diamonds Are Girl’s Best Friend” being my choice.

By: Sharon Vrooman, New York, USA

This was Wendy Voster’s 2008 BOM. Paper pieced, machine pieced, appliqued, hand quilted and added embellishments. I loved working on this as I had to research each time period to learn of period fabrics/colors to chose the correct fabrics to use. I made a stiletto shoe for the label.

The cartoon faces are from a book by Jean Ray Laury – Incredible Quilts for Kids of All Ages. The idea came from a Christmas card I saw once – “Merry Christmas from Santa and his Family”. I chose Santa Paula – Santa Monica – Santa Barbara – Santa Anita – and Santa Fe – to be “Santa’s Sisters”.

I participated in an on-line challenge – “Say Cheese” hosted by V of Bumble Beans Inc, and decided I wanted to try a monochromatic version. This was a lot of fun to do, and i have to say, I think it even looks a lot like me! (as long as you stay far far away!)

Some Things Change Some Things Change
By: Mary L, Kansas, USA

When I found this pattern online I knew I had to make it for my husband. I even used one of his old shirts. Many have asked if he wasn’t insulted. Quite the opposite.. he is so proud of his “portrait” wallhanging!

Waiting In New Orleans Waiting In New Orleans
By: Nellie Durand, Tennessee, USA

This damsel’s portrait is the result of a challenge within an art group. Seven of us each contributed a piece of fabric that we thought was interesting or difficult to use. We each had a year to put them to use. It is constructed with a fabric collage technique, plus oil stick pastel details.

I love to read Marie Bostwicks Cobbled Court Quilt Circle books. I started reading them when I saw a book of hers titled “A Single Thread”. It inspired me to quilt more and heal from losing my oldest Son. As I thought I was hanging by a single thread at the time.

My favorite quilts are the Sailor and the lady w/fan

I just wanted to say that I loved the Sailor quilt. I think it is just the best and how cool that the maker’s dad likes the quilt and can enjoy it!
