My apologies for the very late posting of this week’s contest information. The server move took longer than anticipated and a few unexpected complications had to be dealt with.

The theme for this week’s quilt contest is Unusually-Shaped Quilts. Anything not square nor rectangular in shape would be appropriate. The sponsor for this week’s contest is Gail Pan, who is an awesome designer and has generously donated two of her fabulous Home Sweet Home block of the month patterns.

Gail was actually scheduled to be our guest blogger this week, but I asked her if I could give-away the patterns as part of the contest instead. You can read Gail’s guest blogger post below. One of the pattern sets will be awarded to the winner of the contest with the most votes. The other pattern set will be given to a random winner who leaves a comment on the contest voting post starting on Friday.

Guest Blogger – Gail Pan

Hi, my name is Gail Pan and I am a designer/quilter/patchworker/stitcher/fabric addict!!! I am mum to 3 teenage boys and live with my husband and kids at the foot of the Dandenong Ranges just outside Melbourne, Australia. I grew up with lots of fabric as my mum was a dressmaker. I learnt to sew very early on and was always making something! I remember making clothes for my Barbie doll and soft toys to have on my bed!

I started designing in 2003 as a way to finance my growing hobby of buying fabric! I started out by making other designers’ patterns but would always change them. A friend started a patchwork business and suggested I design some patterns for her, and it grew from there!

I have over 100 patterns in my range at the moment including several BOMs. I was thrilled to see one of my BOMs in a recent Quilting Gallery contest and even more thrilled that it won a viewer’s choice!!! I have 2 complete sets of the BOM Home Sweet Home to giveaway.
