A few weeks ago, I wanted a quick and easy project to work on. I created this Blue and Yellow Fun quilt. It’s a disappearing nine-patch. I adore this pattern as it is charm or fat quarter friendly. Here’s another one I made for a friend’s wedding.

I started with 12 fat quarters, six blue and six yellow. The fabric is Califon by Mark Lipinski and had been in my stash for a year calling to me to be used! From each fat quarter, I cut 12-5″ squares. I then made 16 nine patches, alternating yellow and blue fabrics. The large nine patches were then cross-cut into 7″ pieces for 63 segments. Put them on the design wall and played until I had a design I liked.

The border fabrics came from my stash too. A 1″ orange border, a 1/4″ flange on top, followed by a 5″ outer border. The total size of the quilt is 58″ x 72″. The quilt top has moved to the pile of quilts waiting to be quilted this Fall. Here’s a close-up of a corner of the quilt top. The colours are more accurate in this photo than the one above.

What a gorgeous quilt! I love it. Looks beginner-friendly enough for me to try. Thanks for sharing it.
