Friday Give-Away – Two Tote Bag Patterns
September 4th, 2009
Congratulations to last week’s winner #146 Erin. She won the Quilters Dream Cotton Batting donated by Seaside Quilting Supplies.
This week’s give-away is two gorgeous tote bag patterns, pictured below, donated by Barbara Weiland Talbert. One winner will be chosen to win both patterns. Stitch up a few for Christmas gifts.

Barbara’s most recent book, The Quilting Answer Book was published in April, 2009, by Storey Publishing. It was the featured selection of the month at Crafter’s Choice shortly after publication. Barbara’s next book, The Sewing Answer Book, is due for release in July, 2010.
Barbara has been designing and marketing quilt, tote bag, and garment patterns under the Jo-Lydia’s Attic label since 1999. And, when time allows, she posts sporadic entries to her blog.

I’m sure thinking about it. Especially with all your good ideas!
My list was started in June. So far, I have 5 projects finished and surprisingly two of them are totes. Maybe I’ll be able to use a Jo-Lydia’s Attic pattern for one more tote. Happy Holidays & Sewing Everyone!
I am always meaning to start early but get distracted and never do. Gots lot’s of ideas but that is it so far.
I have not started the actual sewing yet, but have gotten some fleece I need to make some stick horses for the grandkids. Also, the pattern won a few weeks ago for a ‘Quiet time book” will be fun to make as well. I always procrastinate about making presents…..:(
I have started making fabric grocery bags for friends and family to use instead of plastic. I also am making sewing chatenlaines for my quilting friends to have at our quilting ministery for their needles, scissors and threads.
I have bought the fabric. Does that count?

No “official” starts, but I have a few big projects in the works for my brothers. My plan is that they will be a gift for whatever holiday falls closest to the finish date.
As a note – my youngest brother already got a queen sized quilt from me … the finished top was a gift for Christmas one year, I let him admire it then took it back … the finished quilt was for his birthday the next October :)
Is it December 23rd already?

I have my main Christmas present, a rag quilt for my DH, planned, and just have to order the fabrics and get busy sewing!
A couple of small things needed for quilting friends – pretty totes would be just perfect :-)
Well, I live in the Netherlands and most of the dutch doesn’t have the habit to celebrate xmas with giving eachother presents. (allthough some do) In my family we do celebrate it with our family(grandma, uncles and aunts, grandchildren), staying both days together, making a nice dinner together and chat and laugh a lot, playing games etc etc.
In the Netherlands we have our “Sinterklaas” (a bit like santa claus) at the 5th of december. That is a real childrens celebration with presents and poems.
So that”s why I doesn’t make any xmas give away quilts (or anything else) but I do hope that I still may join the give away for those beautifull totepatterns!!!

I believe any gift-making thoughts for Christmas this year are going to be packed along with all our other belongings for our move to the west coast in late fall. I love using reuseable tote bags when out shopping!

I rarely get started on my Christmas gift making this early, always intend to but it rarely happens that way. But with the economy in such bad shape, most of my gifts will be homemade so I had to get started early this year. And I love making anything quilty and that includes tote bags. Everyone on my list is getting a tote bag this year. Some will have applique designs on them, some embroidery stitcheries, some paper pieced. They will all be personalized for the recipients, too. There are so many fun fabric prints that I’ll be able to find just the right fabric for each project and person on my gift list.

Oh yes – a short time ago I finished the first christmas present – a set of four placemats.
I have thought about Christmas, but that’s as far as I got. I saw the tote tutorial and thought totes would be easy and fast, so I am leaning in that direction.
I am always open for ideas.
I have thought about it and have gotten a few ideas. Got some fabric for bags but nothing set in stone yet
Wow gorgeous patterns! Yes I have started my christmas sewing. Because I will need to do some lovely hand stitching on it and that will take me a little bit…..thanks for the opportunity to win one of your lovelies..

Yes, I have started. I have made 5 wall hangings. They will be given as gifts and are Christmas decorations.
I attended a 3 day retreat recently and finished 2 tops. One was a “Take 5″ in golf fabric for a 60th BD last weekend. Second “Take 5″ for me needs borders, but I did not get to the D9P for my DS. It will be a Christmas present. It is cut out and ready to sew. So, yes, I have started, but no presents finished yet.
I’m thinking about it and have gathered up patterns and ideas. No actual cutting and sewing yet. Hopefully later this month.
Love the bags. I have all my Christmas fabric sorted out so I am ready and anxious to get started.
Yes, I have started my Christmas sewing, as I love to do quilted items and need to start early. Please enter me in this wonderful contest, thanks so much, Kathy
Hi, I have not started yet, because I am not used to it. I come from Holland, and there we know Sinterklaas (sort of Santa) at 5th December. At that day we celebrate his birthday. Children believe that he brings gifts for them if they are sweet. When they grew older family choose to celebrate Christmas with gifts, but there al also families who choose to give gifts at 5th December. They mostly make suprisepackages and poems.
I have not started yet because I am still busy with my bag swap.
But I would like to win something.
